Just returning from this year’s Realscreen. I think it has officially turned into Springbreak for TV execs in the unscripted world. Well, except for the fact that it was bone-chilly cold in DC! Maybe at some point they’ll switch and do Realscreen West in DC during May, and the main Realscreen in LA during January. At any rate, I don’t recall parties raging like they did this year. Everyone seemed to chalk it up to the new venue at the Washington Hilton. Not sure what that has to do with it. But, Realscreen was fun and productive. Glad I went.
What I enjoyed the most was the panel about “producing off the grid”, because that’s most of what I do. Good to see that it is both relevant, and a growing segment of our business. Thank you “Naked and Afraid.” Also that the conversation in the digital realm continues to play a bigger and bigger role in our industry. That’s always exciting. Love what’s new. Now for 3D to be more on the horizon in the US market! Hopefully that will happen as 3D TV viewing becomes glasses free.
