Transformational Travel Curator and Guide

The ethos of Sojourn Explorers is about giving back. I have been on all seven continents twice. First as a television producer telling stories about adventure. Then I did another lap around the globe, walking more than 2,000 miles training and doing marathons as fundraisers. When I crossed the finish line on my last continent, Antartica, I decided to create Sojourn Explorers and share my adventures with others.

A portion of each trip we curate goes to the nonprofit organization One Percent for the Planet.

How It Works

Maria is the North American Ambassador for the Transformational Travel Council. Based on personal experience, contemporary science, and ancient wisdom the TTC has identified a three-step process to cultivating truly life-altering adventure when Traveling Like a HERO, with Heart, Engagement, Resolve, and Openness.

Pre-Sojourn Experience

We will help you set intentions for your journey. Decide when, where to go, and why. Curating bespoked experiences in Africa, South America, Europe, and Asia for the solo traveler or private groups. Corporate VIP and alumni sojourns available as well.

On Your Journey

Maria will guide you on traveling like a HERO, being mindful, welcoming challenges, reflecting, and applying meaning.

Post-Sojourn Experience

We will provide support and resources that will empower your transformation and accountability.

My fundraising journey began not long after I watched my mother’s ordeal with cancer, and started noticing more and more people around me hit by that awful disease. I wanted to do something to help. That opportunity came in a way I never expected: walking the NY marathon, raising money for cancer awareness and research. I like to walk however 26.2 miles for time was a whole other challenge. I did it, and it led me to do another marathon, then another... until I did one on every continent, raising money not just for cancer, also for AIDS and Rhino Conservation.
I promise you, each step I take even today has so much more meaning.
