Itinerary

  • Day 1 Arrive

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you are personally met and transferred to your lovely lodge in Nairobi National Park. Most flights get in late. We suggest resting. Overnight The Emakoko | full board, all drinks
  • Day 2 The Emakoko

Today you head off to visit the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage for the morning visit, where guests can meet the orphan elephants and watch the caretakers feed them milk and explain how the orphanage works. From here we visit the Giraffe Centre and have the opportunity to feed a giraffe. We make our way back to the lodge for late lunch. In the afternoon, there are opportunities for a game drive. Nairobi National Park has a healthy population of black rhinos and lion. We return to the lodge in time to freshen up before dinner. Overnight The Emakoko | full board, all drinks.
  • Day 3 Laikipia

After breakfast, we are transferred to Wilson airport to catch a scheduled charter flight to Nanyuki airport. On arrival, we are met by our guide and transported for a 2-hour scenic ride into Laikipia, the start of our safari. In camp we will be greeted by the camels and the Masai / Samburu team of cooks, camel guides, and trackers. The local Laikipia Masai call the rocks here, Nayasura, and stone chippings suggest that they have been used as a camp for millennia. We too will use the stones starting with a delicious lunch and short rest. After lunch we will head out on a short walk looking for game and getting a feel for the country. As the sun begins to set we will find ourselves at the crest of Nayasura with drinks and bitings, watching the baboons come back to roost on the face of the rock. After hot showers and drinks around the fire, we will have a sit-down dinner under the stars. Overnight Private Luxury Walking Safari Camp | full board, all drinks.
  • Day 4 Nyarara Camp

From Nayasura we will head out early after breakfast to see as much game as possible on our walk north towards Nyarara Camp. Nyarara means Cheetah in Masai and the camp was given this name because of a large male that has been seen in the area. Our walk will take us across vast plains as well as mixed bush. Herds of Zebra, Oryx and Grant’s gazelle predominate on the plains. In the bush, we may spot Dikdiks, Gerenuk, Impala and Lesser Kudu. We will arrive at camp in time for lunch. The pack camels with our camp will take a more direct route than us, and arrive ahead to set up camp before we get there. After lunch we will relax and walk to a scenic spot for sundowners. Overnight Private Luxury Walking Safari Camp | full board, all drinks.
  • Day 5 Ewaso Nyiro River

With our riding camels carrying our heavier cameras, water, and snacks we will venture forth each morning while the remaining camels will take the tents and kitchen straight on to the next camp. This safari finishes on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, the second largest river in Kenya. Today we head down toward the Ewaso Nyiro River, which runs along the eastern edge of the Laikipia Plateau and then turns eastward toward Samburu National Reserve. Along the way, we will be looking for Eland, Steinbuck, and Giraffe as well as enjoying the ever-changing scenery. When we arrive at the Ewaso Nyiro, we may want to take a quick swim before lunch. After lunch, we will rest and have sundowners on a high rocky hillside, returning to camp for dinner and a toast to our adventure | full board, all drinks.
  • Day 6 Masai Mara

Hugely popular with the Elephants who love to wallow in its muddy stretches, the river here offers an excellent opportunity to approach, study, and photograph these majestic animals. After a morning walk, breakfast and a fond goodbye to our camel team and crew, we move on to our next adventure. From the river camp, we are picked up and transferred to Nanyuki airport to catch a scheduled charter flight to the world famous Maasai Mara. On arrival, we are greeted by our guide, then take a game drive into camp. We arrive in time to freshen up before dinner. Overnight Kicheche Bush Camp | full board, all drinks.

  • Day 7 Walking safari

Our camp is located in the Masai Mara within the Olare Motorogi Conservancy bordering the Reserve. The Conservancy, because of its strict limit on bed numbers, offers an incomparable game viewing experience without crowds. In the morning, we head out on a game drive, this is a prime wildlife area, and game viewing starts at our doorstep. The location is ideal to enjoy the Wildebeest Migration, when in season. We return to camp in time for lunch and prepare for our walking safari adventure. In the afternoon, we will enjoy a walking safari escorted by our guide and an armed ranger, with an overnight stay at our private bush camp. It is an outstanding opportunity to see the Mara from an entirely different perspective. We will explore the smaller aspects of savannah life – birds, grasses, and insects – and maybe encounter some larger game en-route. Upon reaching the camp, a welcome bush shower awaits us, followed by a cold gin and tonic and dinner under the stars – our musical soiree will include a choir of cicadas, whooping of hyenas, the roar of lions, and the keening of jackals. Retire to our tents in the wild. Overnight Private Fly Camp (full board, all drinks).
  • Day 8 Kicheche Bush Camp

Today we wake up very early, and after a light breakfast, we will enjoy a walking safari and arrive back at our camp in time for lunch and a rest. In the afternoon, we will head out on our last game drive of the safari, then dinner under the stars. Overnight Kicheche Bush Camp | full board, all drinks.
  • Day 9 Fly to Beach

After breakfast, we transfer to the local airstrip to catch a scheduled charter flight to Wilson airport. From here we connect with a flight to Diani Beach airport. On arrival, we are greeted by our private transfer and taken to our lovely beach accommodation. Overnight Afro Chic ~ Ocean View Deluxe Room | full board.
  • Day 10 Diani Beach

Full days to enjoy paradise at leisure. Overnight Afro Chic ~ Ocean View Deluxe Room | full board.
  • Day 11 Diani Beach

Full days to enjoy paradise at leisure. Overnight Afro Chic ~ Ocean View Deluxe Room | full board.
  • Day 12 Departure

Today we are privately transferred to Diani Beach airport to catch an afternoon scheduled charter flight to Wilson airport. We will enjoy our last dinner at Carnivore Restaurant, and at the appropriate time, you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for departures | B, L, D
